SL-class

Here’s my honest opinion on the all-new 2022 Mercedes SL

The all-new 2022 Mercedes-Benz SL will at first be available as either the SL55 or the SL63, both powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V-8.

The previous twin-turbo V6 is no longer available which is a pretty interesting decision. Keeping the V8s and cancelling the V6 is an uncommon but welcome initiative in today’s world, specifically when we’re talking about a new Mercedes SL.

This 2022 SL is also all wheel drive for the first time ever. You’ll get AMG’s 4Matic+ all-wheel drive as standard on both the 55 and the 63.

The V-8 in the SL55 makes 469 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque while the big brother SL63 puts out 577 hp and 590 pound-feet of torque and they are both linked to a nine-speed AMG automatic transmission with launch-control.

Mercedes says the SL55 will do zero-to-60-mph in 3.8 seconds and that drops to 3.5 seconds for the SL63.
